Every KYC starts with an initial investigation by CertiK analysts to gather information on the project and any details from open source analysis.

Preliminary Investigation

A key step in the KYC process is a video call with a project founder/CEO to discuss the team's background and objectives. This step helps establish a relationship and gives CertiK a clear understanding of the project's structure.

Interview With Background Investigator

Key team members submit their identification and complete a detailed questionnaire for a thorough background check. This information is used by CertiK’s investigators to verify the team's identity.

ID Verification & Screening

CertiK’s investigators conduct a comprehensive review of the submitted information, using various tools and databases to identify potential fraud signals. If the team passes the assessment, the KYC Badge is awarded on Skynet.

Analysis & Reward

As a SOC-2 company, CertiK ensures personal information is kept confidential and never disclosed publicly. The KYC Badge provides assurance without revealing sensitive team member data.


Data Privacy Protection

Every 90 days, project teams are reassessed based on their performance and accountability over time. Those who maintain positive track records can be eligible for renewal or upgrades to their badge.
