Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) blockchain designed to provide a secure, cost-effective, and user-friendly platform for on-chain development. Base is constructed on the OP Stack in partnership with Optimism and is being developed within Coinbase's ecosystem, drawing upon a decade of expertise in creating cryptocurrency products. The project intends to gradually transition towards decentralization. Notably, there are no immediate plans to introduce a new network token.
